Grand Canyon S with a pop top!

In 2016 Hymer became the first mass-production manufacturer to present a camper van on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. In 2017 Hymer has come up with a new Grand Canyon S with the first poptop roof for camper vans on this base vehicle. As a result, the company has a vehicle among its ranks, which offers even more comfort and flexibility with two extra berths – despite its compact dimensions – and which can be used in even more versatile ways.

This model combines the advantages of a camper van with the comfort of a motorhome and features a number of impressive safety and driver assistance systems, as well as a high-quality furniture concept. With compact dimensions of 5.93 metres in overall length and 2.03 metres in width, the Grand Canyon S provides the perfect mix of flexibility and comfort.

“The continuous development and improvement of our vehicles – also due to the continuously high level of demand in this product category – is very important to us. With the new pop-top roof for the Grand Canyon S, we’ve developed the model in such a way that we can now reach out to an even bigger target group with the bonus of two extra berths,” says Jochen Hein, Managing Director of Hymer GmbH & Co. KG.

Featuring a double bed, the pop-top roof ensures a restful night’s sleep. Unrivalled levels of sleeping comfort are offered by the cold foam mattress including sprung mattress, which measures 200 x 128 cm. Thanks to the extra berths that have been gained, you can now also use the vehicle as a group or family. The new additional sleeping area can be easily reached thanks to the wide access from the side between the seating area and cab, and the three windows – two of which can be opened completely – guarantee the perfect view and optimum air circulation. Additional protection from unwanted guests is provided by the integrated fly screens, and the fitted blinds keep things dark, even after daybreak. The integrated LED reading light illuminates the sleeping area at night. The vehicle’s new pop-top roof doesn’t have any impact on the handling characteristics whatsoever, and the design ensures a modern appearance as well as good aerodynamics.

The Grand Canyon S with pop-top roof will be available from dealers from the beginning of 2018.
