Coalhouse Fort, East Tilbury, Essex, UK

This purpose built 12.5 inch monstrosity is a replica of one of four such guns which stood on this stie guarding the River Thames to the east of East Tilbury in Essex.  Built in the 1870s, in my opinion it must have been outdated before it was planned.  Boasting awful design of a muzzle loader - some twenty years after breech loading weapons had been developed by Armstrong's of Newcastle.
