St Leonards residents don't want RVs parked on the seafront

According to an article in the Hastings Observer, locals in St Leonards in East Sussex, UK, do not seem to be pleased with with people living in caravans and motorhomes along the sea front whilst the Borough Council says it is the responsibility of East Sussex County Council to move them on and the County Council saying the opposite.

The usualy reasons are given for what they consider to be the problem - being a 'free for all', danger to health and being an 'illegal caravan park in summer' then contradicting themselves claiming it is a 'matter of rehousing'.  Whether or not the land is being used by homeless people or by campers seeking a pleasant spot to camp whilst visiting the area is not clear and it would appear that the civil servants do not appreciate how tourism works - despite being in a tourist area.
