Motorhomes give huge boost to Spanish tourism

According to the Spanish Ministry of Tourism some 30,000 motorhomes and campervans visit that country each year in a business which is worth EUR147m - a total of nearly EUR5,000 per motorhome visit.  Whereas these figures do seem a little exaggerated (and may include Spanish motorhomes too) there is no doubt that this form of tourism represents a significant amount of income for local economies.

Nonetheless there have been reports of wild campers being moved on from popular areas along the Mediiterranean coast - maybe the answer is to provide more aires and campsites in places people want to visit!
