Exmouth looking at solutions to on street parking

According to the Exmouth Journal, East Devon District Council (EDDC) said a total ban on overnight on-street parking could be in the pipeline at the popular tourist destination.  The council would offer ‘inexpensive’ overnight facilities instead.  As it happens, the council aims to use this summer to see what is happening before coming to a decision.

The person in charge of environmental regulations, Councillor Marcus Hartnell, believes that a new look at regulations is needed.

Up until now the policy of the council has been not to allow motorhomes to overnight at their car parks in order not to compete with private campsites but now in view of what is perceived as an off street street problem then the council is going to have a second look.

The council does not have powers over motorhomes legally parked on the public highway as this is a matter for Devon County Council Highways authority.
