Welcome from Tennsee in the Alps!
This week Motorhome Full Time is coming to you from the Alpen-Caravanpark Tennsee, which is located in the German Alps, near the village of Krün and some 15km to the east of Garmisch Parkenkirchen which is noted for its winter sports facilities and as the host of the Fourth Winter Olympic Games. The main attraction here is of course nature and despite being in the Alps, the hard bike tracks are relatively easy and do not pose much of a challenge as the slopes are relatively gentle.
As you may be able to tell from the photograph, Tennsee is a dried up lakfe which fills as the snows from the mountains melt but then dries up again because of the underlying porous karst rock.
One thing of note in the area are the murals on the sides of buildings and one can see very intricate works in Garmisch Partenkirchen and Mittenwald above all.
As well as tours in the mountains to Krün, Mittenwald and Barmsee, I went to Garmisch Partenkirchen for a tour around the Olympic complex and to a chocolate workshop!
More details will be appearing later of what to do and see in the area in both written and video formats!
