Unhealthy 'health' food : no. 2 Cheerios
It is not just in the US where the American Heart Association is prepared to give its seal of approval for sugar coated breakfast cereals as being heart friendly. In Poland, the Professor Zbigniew Religa Foundation of Cardiac Surgery Development to use its official title has given its seal of approval to Nestle's Cheerios even though sugar may make up as much as one fifth of the total content of the product. It seems as though the charitable foundation may have found a way of making some money on the side. I have written to them to challenge them to produce the science to prove that sugar reduces cholesterol and if I get a response shall of course be happy to publish it.
