Trail of history in Valsugana
The Romans passed through the Valsugana valley in Italy's Trentino along the Via Claudia Augusta road from Germany to Venice; milestones and towers are the evidence of Valsugana’s millenary history. Later on castles rise in strategic positions and dominate the valley, like the Castle of Pergine where contemporary exhibitions take place, and Castle Ivano. The Austro-Hungarian forts of the Great War found on the Vezzena highland, in Levico Terme and on Mount Panarotta date back to more recent eras. They can be discovered along the hiking and mountain biking tours, for example to the Pizzo di Levico with a stunning view on the lakes.
