Fine increased in UK for using mobile whilst driving

The British government has increased the fine for using a mobile phone whilst at the wheel.  From 1 March, holding and using a phone at the wheel costs six points on the licence and a GBP200 fine.

Hands free use continues to be allowed however although this may be also distracting, some may argue that the law does not go far enough.
