Camping Vidor prepares for the winter!

A truly exceptional winter awaits those who choose a holiday experience at the Camping Vidor & Wellness Resort. The magnificent snow-covered Dolomites will frame the facilities, which – for this season too – have in store lots of new possibilities for lovers of mountains, skiing and snowshoeing, but also for those looking for hours of relaxation and wellness. A bouquet of services that will allow guests to enjoy the fullest of days, both during the day and in the evening.

The new 4000 m² Aquapark and updated wellness centre aren’t the only attractions that guests of Camping Vidor & Wellness Resort will find in Pozza di Fassa. They will certainly include the Dolomites, which Italy is proud to call its own and have taken their rightful place among the wonders of the world as UNESCO World Heritage. Peaks beloved of climbers, photographers and hikers, but skiers and snowboarders above all. Winter is the season par excellence in the Fassa Valley and Vidor, in addition to its particularly strategic position, is preparing to welcome guests with a programme packed with initiatives and a host of new services, which will help them enjoy their stay at all hours of the day.

Camping Vidor: a paradise for ski lovers

Lovers of skiing and snowboarding who choose Camping Vidor will have the fortune to find themselves literally on the slopes of Dolomiti Superski: 1200 km, including the celebrated Sellaronda. The ski slope skirting the campsite leads down to Pozza di Fassa in the Buffaure-Ciampac ski area.

There’s big news this winter. The old Alba di Canazei cableway has been replaced with a rapid, silent, state-of-the-art Doppelmayr D-Line modern cable car featuring automatic release. To be experienced!

Coming back at the end of the day, guests will find a ski room waiting to receive them, equipped with lockers featuring electronic locking for holding up to four skis and the same number of boots. Here the built-in drying system allows it all to be collected dry, warm and odourless the next morning. For the remaining clothing, the campsite has a convenient drying room for hanging out damp clothes, avoiding the need to take it back to the motorhome, caravan or accommodation.

The multi-day ski pass can also be purchased directly from reception. There’s special attention, as ever, dedicated to families with children. In winter a wheeled train will be operating that can be used to reach the school grounds. And from the eighth of January, kids can be accompanied to the school grounds by the campsite’s entertainment staff, both coming and going, giving parents the possibility of going to ski for the whole day, knowing that their children are in safe hands.

This year too, Camping Vidor offers attractive arrangements, in particular a 10% discount for the group courses and possibility of hiring skis with direct delivery at the campsite.

Enjoy the mountains outside of skiing

A winter packed with activities for non-skiers too. Staying at Camping Vidor allows you to choose easily between many proposals for trips and sports typical of the mountains to discover the Fassa Valley. As far as snowshoe trips are concerned, there are three proposed routes, depending on training and difficulty, but all with the aim of giving participants the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the amazing snow-covered panorama of the Dolomites starting from the campsite.

For lovers of paragliding, the area is truly unbeatable. From the slopes of Col Rodella and Belvedere, many enthusiasts take flight every day, bringing the blue sky to life with their manoeuvres, in a completely unique setting. An exceptional opportunity not only to observe this spectacle but also enjoy this experience in tandem with an instructor starting from Campitello di Fassa.

For lovers of ski mountaineering there’s the possibility of hiring the equipment and going on guided trips. The off-piste trails are amazing and plentiful. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, on the other hand, endless trails wind around the valley floor. The closest to Vidor is the 4 km Ciancoal circuit, also lit at night and where snow is guaranteed from December to March. For lovers of this sport, the Marcialonga held on the last Sunday in January in Moena is an unmissable event with its 70 km of climbs and descents.

Christmas events around Camping Vidor

In the Fassa Valley, December brings with it the magical atmosphere of Christmas and the festivities most well-known and appreciated by tourists from all over the world.

On 6 December, the whole valley celebrates the arrival of St Nick and a truly special event is organised in Pozza di Fassa for the patron saint. Tradition has it that St Nicholas is followed by devils called Krampus who, as early as 2 December, parade along Via Meida starting from 8 p.m. A really characteristic occasion, with the personal involvement of the local people, who pursue this tradition with great passion. Those who can’t take part in the parade will also find Krampus in the days leading up to the feast, and the evening of 5 December in particular.

For those looking for a few Christmas purchases, typical products, handmade creations and gift ideas, the Christmas markets in Vigo di Fassa, Campitello di Fassa and the Karersee will certainly be able to immerse guests at Camping Vidor in the typical atmosphere of Christmas in the mountains.

  • In Vigo the markets are open from 8 to 11 December, 17 and 18 Dec. and from 26 Dec. to 7 January.
  • In Campitello di Fassa, the Christmas market is inaugurated on Thursday 8 December with a taste of mulled wine and strudel. Open from 8 to 11 December, 17 and 18 Dec., from 24 Dec. to 8 January from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The pearl of the Dolomites is the Karersee, which will be illuminated by the lights of the wooden huts surrounding it and which will be lit on 2–3 December, from 7 to 10 and from 1 to 17 Dec. Many initiatives are proposed, such as lantern-lit trips around the lake with mulled wine, for example. On 7 December there will be the Day of Silence to enjoy the tranquillity and wonders of nature of the UNESCO Natural World Heritage site.
  • It’s just a 45-minute bus ride to visit the Market in Bolzano, open every day from 24 November 2017 to 6 January 2018. Historically, it is set up in the city’s Piazza Walther, where events, dances and concerts follow one another in abundance. Every Saturday and Sunday evening sees  "Alpen Advent", with concerts from 2 to 6 p.m.
